British actor Clive Owen surprised all of his fans and critics when he won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar (Academy Award) for his appearance in a drama “Closer” (2004). From that time forward he is seen in the screens of Hollywood and is still climbing the stairs of career.

Actor from the early days

Clive was born on 3rd of November 1964 in Coventry, in the English Midlands. And is a fourth child in the family of five children. His father, who is a country music singer, left his family when Clive was only three years old and they still do not keep in touch with each other. Raised by his mother and stepfather, he describes his childhood as “rough and hard”.

From his early days of childhood, Clive was related to stage. When he was twelve, he played a part in his first play and since then he decided to become an actor. Of course his family did not look at that very seriously. School was hard for Clive Owen – he did not pass his final high school exams and right after that started looking for a job. After several years of unsuccessful searches, Clive decided to test himself and applied to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and got in. This is how this man started his studies in one of the oldest and most prestigious England’s art academies. After graduating it, actor won a position in “Young Vic” theatre, London.

But theater was not his calling. Young man dreamed of acting in movies. In 1988 Clive debuted in a TV series called “Precious Bane”. Two years later he regularly played roles on the stage and in television in the United Kingdom and became famous for his role in popular TV series “Chancer”.

Woolf of Hollywood

For a long period of time C. Owen acted only in the territory of UK. He became familiar to the audience of United States when in the summer of 2001 BMW released a series of short film “The Hire”. With the role in this series he attracted the attention of Hollywood film industry and got a lot of offers to appear in different movies such as “Gosford Park”, “The Bourne Identity”, and “Beyond Borders”.  Although “Closer” was a movie which brought fame to Clive Owen. For the appearance in it he won a Golden Globe award and was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actor. After being nominated for an Oscar actor stated that his expectations did not change. “I try that every movie would be the best of what I am able to do” he says.

So far actor Clive Owen is considered to be one of the most emoted actors of action films. Interesting fact is that he never acted in horror movies or romantic dramas. Together with such stars as Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie, Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Morgan Freeman, Nicole Kidman, Jason Statham, Robert De Niro and more he appeared in various movies.

One of the most interesting and shocking roles was in a film “Close My Eyes” where he played a man who had a love affair with his sister. “This is one of my most memorable roles ever. I will never forget it” he states.

His newest appearance in the screens can be seen in an action movie “Last Knight” where he played together with Morgan Freeman

Love at first sight

Actor S. Owen is married to another actress Sarah-Jane Fenton for a period of over 20 years. Both of them met during the studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. They became closer during the play when Clive and Sarah-Jane played Romeo and Juliet. He says that it was love at first sight. Together they have two daughters – Hannah (born in 1997) and Eve (born in 1999).

Internationally famous actor says that he has never dreamed of such successful career. “It cannot be described what it feels like to live a simple life and suddenly appear in the newspapers. I did not become an actor because of the fame. I did not reach for that” says actor Clive Owen.
